Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Fighters Party

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers increasing in influence within the city.

Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of adventurers who will split off from the main group to embark on their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

With an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.

Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

First, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.

The traitor then paid off his obligations and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each character has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
  • The adventurer has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a nasty location.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the party enter places they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This results in them few options but to travel to the remote area in quest for the antagonist.

Future Episodes

From episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Questers and Schemers tables.

Viewers can expect discovering which players will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
