This Dramatic Portrait
In the conflict between faith and wealth, the winner is obvious for materialism in Michael Showalter's delightfully tacky film adaptation about the fallen religious broadcaster plus her lawbreaking partner. Andrew Garfield plays the venal Jim, who declares at the beginning, asserting religious justification for riches. Both individuals set about monetising the American public's Christian beliefs. It's a riot of poor styling, excessive cosmetics and insincerity, though Jessica Chastain achieves to depict the real-life figure as a sympathetic figure. Tuesday 14 October, 1.15am, the Film4 channel
